EARSTRING

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 August 2026

EarString ("the app") is a guitar practice tool that runs its audio analysis — tuner, chord detection, beat tracking, and stem separation — entirely on your device. This policy explains what the app accesses and what leaves your device.

Summary

EarString does not collect personal data, has no accounts, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Your audio files and all analysis stay on your device. The only data that leaves your device is described below (optional online lyrics lookup and Apple's purchase processing).

Your audio and analysis stay on-device

Optional online lyrics lookup

If you use the online lyrics feature, the app sends the track title and artist name you are viewing to the public LRCLIB lyrics service in order to fetch matching lyrics. No audio, no account information, and no identifiers are sent. This request is only made when you use the lyrics feature; it can be turned off in the app's settings.

Purchases (EarString Pro)

EarString Pro (subscription or one-time unlock) is sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Payments and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your payment information. The app only receives from Apple a cryptographically verified confirmation of whether you own Pro, which is kept on your device.

Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect, log, or transmit:

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
